How did is first come to be brewed?Coffee was first brewed and
deunk in Ethiopia around 575 AD. An ancient story recalls how it was first
discovered when a goat herder noticed his goats had become very active after
eating a particular plant,which had red berries on it . The goat herder
tried them himself,soon hebecome more alert,awake and full of energy.He took
the berrier to the local monastery where the abbot tested the properties of
the berries for himself .Soon the community was being given the brew to keep
them awake through late night prayess .By the mid-1600’s coffee was being
dunks in Europe ,but it was another 45 years before the first coffee house
opened in Venice.Soon they sprouted up all over Europe .Thus,coffee drinking
became away of life and in now consumed on every corner of the globe.
Coffrr grows wild in Ethiopia where today it can still be
gathered from wild trees.It is believed that shortly after its
discovery,the coffee seeds were brought to the Arabian Peninsula to what
is today the country of Yemen.Thus,in the seventh century,the first true
cultivation of coffee began.?
